I am rarely without at least one book on the go! Below are some of my favorite book recommendations about parenting, fertility, pregnancy and birth (including one i wrote!) and more. I am not a real fan of parenting books but the ones on this list really focus on mindfulness and positive psychology, less about “fixing your kids” than healing yourself to improve all areas of your life (including parenting). This is a constantly evolving list, stay tuned for updates! As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases, but only share recommendations for books I truly believe in.
I wrote a book! Based on my popular “Yoga and Comfort Measures for Birth” workshop, this book integrates yoga, science and mind-body wellness to help you achieve your own best birth.
This is one of my favorite books on the power of mindfulness and meditation, I’ve read it too many times to count, and gain something new each time. While it is about all aspects of life I often recommend it to clients on fertility journeys or facing parenting challenges. Acceptance isn’t about just being ok, but letting go of resentment to find more ease wherever you are in life.
I don’t really like parenting books, but I LOVE this book. Clarke-Fields’s provides great insight into using mindfulness for in the minute parenting as well as modeling reactions and patience. Packed with tips and exercises, this really is a GOOD parenting book.
If you are interested in symbols, archetypes and dream interpretation, this is the parenting book for you! Filled with fairy tales and parenting insights this is a Jungian exploration of motherhood that is enjoyable and fun to read.
This book is worth recommending for the title alone! This book includes evidence based tips, humor and compassion. I personally find myself turning back to it again and again.
This is one of the most popular books on fertility, for good reason. The author covers the importance of egg quality and how you can improve yours through lifestyle, diet and more. This is ultimately and positive and hopeful book.
Positive Psychology isn’t “good vibes only”. Rather it is about learning to use your mind to focus on the positive in any situation, even while struggling. The author notes you can’t have the positive emotion of “hope” without acknowledging the negative, but working to find a way forward. This is a great intro or addition to any positive psychology learnings.
This is the first book I ever read about birth, as part of my doula training, and it is still one I recommend. I used what I learned during both my births and my husband also credits it for why he was such a great birth partner. This is great for expecting individuals and their partners to read at any stage of pregnancy.
The only pregnancy (not just birth) book I ever recommend! Oster, an economist, interprets the data on common pregnancy recommendations so you can make the best evidence based choices.
Whether you are trying to get pregnant, want to prevent pregnancy without hormonal contraception or just learn more about your amazing body this is THE book!
If you feel great after your yoga practice and want to bring that feeling “off the mat” this is the book for you. Farhi breaks down ways to integrate the most impactful aspects of yoga into your daily life. A must read for anyone looking to enhance their yoga.
The name says it all! This book looks at how we parent through the view of how we were parented! And how we can learn, grow and change these experiences, for our children AND for ourselves.
